If you are concerned about anything you witness in school, or the treatment of a child outside of school, you can do one of these things:

Report it to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Hart, Mrs Flattery or Mrs Cunningham) by phoning the school on 01452 530177.
Contact the Children and Families Services Helpdesk on 01452 426565 during office hours

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools, Gloucestershire County Council, Gloucestershire Safeguarding Board and police forces. The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.

Operation Encompass is a system for reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse and police have been called. Witnessing or experiencing domestic abuse is really distressing for a child or young person, who often see the abuse, hear it from another room, see a parent's injuries or distress afterwards, or can be physically hurt by trying to stop the abuse. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this is extremely beneficial for all those involved.

As a school we have ensured that a member of our staff, known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the proportionate information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care. For LPF, this is our Designated Safeguarding Leads. We will not question the child or seek further details, but support will be provided if needed.

Early Help

Early help is a service that provides support to children, young people, and their families. It can include advice, guidance, and targeted services. Early help is also known as early intervention or preventative services.

Who provides early help? Local authorities provide early help services.

When can early help be offered? Early help can be offered at any stage of a child's life, from early years through to adolescence.

Where can early help be offered? Early help can take place at home, at school, at a health or children's centre, or at a mental health hub.
